Why Karres?

As Jefferson and Lincoln Counties’ Chief Deputy Prosecutor, Karres
Manning Center has tried over a hundred and fifty trials from sexual and
domestic related crimes to capital murder. She is proud to have brought
justice to the family of Officer Kevin Collins as one of the prosecutors who
tried this matter in court.

 

Karres joined the Prosecutor’s Office in 2000, after obtaining her Juris
Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She obtained her
Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

 

Karres has received extensive sexually related training to become an
effective trauma informed prosecutor. She works closely with community
mental health professional, medical health professionals, child advocates,
and law enforcement with the objective of improving treatment of victim-
survivors, holding perpetrators accountable, and enhancing public safety.
Karres also provides training to law enforcement and other agencies on the
different aspects of working with sexual assault victims, including forensic
interviewing, emotional and behavioral responses of victims, and the roles
and responsibilities of each involved agency. She has given numerous
speeches and presentations on Sexual Assault and Domestic related
awareness.

 

Karres was instrumental in developing protocols for local child abuse
response team (MDT) and assisting the local Child Advocacy Center (CAC)
with its accreditation and advocating for sexual assault nurse examiner
(SANE). Karres has prosecuted child molesters, sexually violent predators,
rapist, and stalkers.

 

Karres vision for a safer Jefferson and Lincoln Counties is “Community
Focused Justice.” This approach includes “ the people of this community”

in the prevention of crime and public safety policies for strong and safe
neighborhoods.

 

Karres is married to Johnny, and they are proud parents of Wesley and
Emmarie. She is guided by her faith, and she attends Mt. Nebo Missionary
Baptist Church where she is an active member. She is supported by family,
friends and is a member of civic, and social action organizations such as the
NAACP, LINKS, Delta Sigma Theta, Jefferson County
